Major stock market indexes in the United States opened mixed on Tuesday ahead of the report on the nation's consumer confidence in November. Shortly before the opening, another report showed a new annual rise in house prices. Later, the Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) will reveal its earnings in the fourth quarter of the year.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded 0.17% lower at the opening as Procter & Gamble Co. went down by 0.92%. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 stood flat.

The euro lost 0.07% to the dollar at 9:29 am ET to sell for $1.03286.
