US opens slightly higher after positive GDP report

Stocks in the United States started Wednesday's trading session mildly higher following a string of data reports. The US economy performed better than expected in the third quarter, with the second GDP growth estimate putting it at 2.9% compared to 2.6% previously. The trade deficit deepened in October, while private payrolls grew by 127,000 in November. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is also expected to speak later in the day.

The Dow Jones gained 0.07% at 9:30 am ET, led by Boeing Co., which gained 2.03%. The Nasdaq 100 added 0.08%, with Workday soaring 10.49%. The S&P 500 improved by 0.10%, as State Street Corp. jumped 8.01%.

The euro traded 0.55% higher compared to the dollar and went for 1.03807 at 9:32 am ET.
