Tesla Inc. plans a "massive" boost in production out of Gigafactory Texas in the first quarter of 2023, Electrek reported on Wednesday.

The automaker intends to manufacture 75,000 Model Y cars at its Texas facility in the opening three months of next year, which would translate to 5,000 units produced each week over the course of the quarter, an unnamed source with knowledge of the plans told the media outlet.

According to the insider, the company's customers in the United States have been canceling their orders to a certain degree, "due to long wait times," while others are looking to delay their deliveries into 2023 to benefit from the government's new electric vehicle tax credits.
