Asian markets trade mostly lower after data

Major stock exchanges in Asia traded mostly lower on Monday as traders focused on economic data reports on Chinese manufacturing sector activity in May and Japan's industrial production and retail sales in April.

The Nikkei 225 dropped 1.15% at 7:10 am CET. The Shanghai Composite decreased by 0.20% at 7:02 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite Index went up 0.41% at 7:11 am CET. The Hang Seng lost 0.54% at the same time. The Kospi advanced 0.20% at 7:12 am CET. The S&P/ASX 200 in Australia declined 0.23% at the same time.

The dollar was down 0.17% compared to the Japanese yen at 7:14 am CET, trading for 109.6675.
