Europe opens in green amid vaccine expectations

Major European markets opened in the green on Monday after it was announced that the phase III trials of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine have resumed in the United Kingdom. On the political front, it was reported in the UK that up to 30 Tory MPs are against the government's draft bill on the internal market which aims to override parts of the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement Bill.

The DAX traded 0.95% higher at the opening. Adidas AG was up by 1.76%. The FTSE 100 advanced by 0.74% as Ocado Group increased by 2.29%. The CAC 40 gained 0.91% with LVMH jumping 1.07%.

The euro stood flat against the dollar to exchange hands for $1.18458 at 8:58 am CET. At the same time, the pound was up by 0.25% against the American currency to sell for $1.28270 at the same time.
