Europe opens higher ahead of ECB's meeting accounts

Shares on the major European stock market indexes started the session with gains on Thursday, as the investors awaited the European Central Bank's (ECB) monetary policy meeting accounts. Two of the ECB's Executive Board members are scheduled to comment on the economic outlook in the Eurozone later in the day.

On the data front, both Germany and France reported a fall in consumer confidence in November, attributing the bulk of the drop to the coronavirus containment measures.

The DAX increased by 0.19% at 9:02 am CET as RWE AG rose by 0.81% at 9:03 am CET. The CAC 40 gained 0.36% as the session started with STMicroelectronics trading 1.28% above the flatline. Meanwhile, in London, the FTSE 100 advanced by 0.32% at the opening bell, as Flutter Entertainment surged 3.16%. The euro was flat versus the dollar, selling for 1.19267 at 8:58 am CET, while the pound sterling declined by 0.18% compared to the greenback, to go for 1.33664 a minute later.
