Europe opens mostly higher after UK data

Equities on major European stock markets opened mostly higher on Tuesday after the United Kingdom's Office for National Statistics released the latest economic data reports on the gross domestic product, industrial production and trade balance. Credit Suisse revealed that its outgoing Chairman Urs Rohner will not seek re-election to the board of directors and that Christian Gellerstad will be nominated to take his place.

The DAX rose by 0.22% at 9:02 am CET as Covestro led the gains, ticking 3.44% higher at 9:05 am CET. London's FTSE 100 was flat at 9:00 am CET as Hikma Pharmaceuticals lost 1.36% at 9:01 am CET. The CAC 40 advanced 0.17% at 9:00 am CET with Alstom gaining 1.82% at 9:02 am CET.

The euro was 0.22% lower compared to the dollar at 8:59 am CET, trading for 1.18846. The British pound was flat against the American currency, going for 1.37470 concurrently.
