Euro area trade surplus down to €17.7B in February

The Eurozone international trade of goods surplus stood at €17.7 billion in February, down from January's figure of €24.2 billion, according to a first estimate released on Friday by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

The export of goods from the euro area to the rest of the world in February amounted to €178.6 billion, down by 5.5% compared to the same period the year before. Imports from the rest of the world fell by 2.7% to land at €161.0 billion. Intra-euro area trade improved by 1.7% on an annual basis to reach €164.8 billion.

Considering the entire European Union (EU28), exports dropped by 3.6% on the year to €164.7 billion while imports from the rest of the world declined by 3% to €143.6 billion.
