Europe starts week mixed as traders await data

Shares on the major stock market indexes in Europe opened the Monday session mixed as the investors awaited the report regarding the business climate in Germany, in what is otherwise scheduled to be a data-heavy week.

Apart from being focused on the COVID pandemic and the pace at which the vaccination against it is unfolding, the traders will also pay attention to corporate earnings of some of the largest United States-based companies, which are due this week.

The DAX started the session up by 0.13% with MTU Aero Engines jumping 1.02% at 9:02 am CET. The FTSE 100 lost 0.12% at the opening bell as United Utilities fell 1.11% at 9:03 am CET. The CAC 40 stood flat at the beginning of the trading session.

The euro remained unchanged versus the dollar, selling for 1.20993 at 9:04 am CET, while the pound advanced 0.27% compared to the American currency, going for 1.39195 at the same time.
