RWE AG revealed on Wednesday that its earnings per share (EPS) climbed to €1.32 in the first quarter of fiscal 2021, marking a 12.8% increase compared to the same three-month period a year ago.

Net income came in at €895 million in the year's opening trimester, growing 24.8% on a yearly basis. External revenue, excluding natural gas tax and electricity tax, jumped 23.7% year on year to €4.7 billion in the first three months of 2021, while adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (adjusted EBITDA) plunged 33.3% to €883 million in the same time span.

The company attributed the "substantial decrease" in EBITDA to "the extraordinary charges incurred due to the worst cold snap in a century in Texas."
