Europe opens in green as EU confirms reopening

Major European stock markets registered gains at the opening bell on Thursday a day after the European Commission confirmed EU member states agreed on reopening borders for people fully vaccinated against the COVID-19.

While the United Kingdom reportedly plans to make all adults eligible for a vaccine by June, the French government hopes to deal with the pandemic before the end of the year. Meanwhile, the latest data from Germany showed producer prices made an annual jump of better-than-expected 5.2% last month.

The DAX gained 0.62% at the open, with Deutsche Telekom trading 1.55% higher. The FTSE 100 rose 0.63%, as Experian soared 2.71%. The CAC 40 advanced 0.57%. Bouygues was the top performer, surging 3.21%. The euro climbed 0.12% against the dollar to sell for 1.21891, while the pound increased by 0.10% to $1.41285.
