Moderna Inc. unveiled on Monday that it has submitted a request for conditional marketing authorization of its COVID-19 vaccine for the population aged between 12 and 17 to the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

The company previously revealed that its mRNA-1273 COVID shot proved to be 100% efficient among teens who participated in the study. A week ago, the pharmaceutical firm initiated "the rolling submission process" in the US in order to gain full approval for use of its coronavirus shot.

"We are encouraged that the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine was highly effective at preventing COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 infection in adolescents. We have filed for authorization with Health Canada and we will file for an Emergency Use Authorization with the US," Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel noted.
