Harris' border visit coordinated with DHS - Psaki

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on Wednesday that the decision to have Vice President Kamala Harris visit the US-Mexico border for the first time since taking office this week was made "in coordination" with the Department of Homeland Security.

According to Psaki, Vice President Harris didn't visit the border sooner despite weeks of criticism from Republicans and even some Democrats because the administration "didn't want to disrupt efforts on the ground there."

Harris will travel to the US-Mexico border in El Paso on Friday, Psaki confirmed during her regular White House briefing. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump is also set to visit the border next week.
