Manchin: Senate should pass infrastructure bill by Aug. 5

United States Senator Joe Manchin (pictured front) stated on Sunday that the bipartisan infrastructure legislation worth $1 trillion should be passed by Thursday, August 5.

Speaking in a CNN interview, the Democrat from West Virginia added he expects the bill to be introduced today in the Senate, echoing the sentiment from his Republican colleague Susan Collins. The upper chamber could "hopefully start our amendment process by tomorrow," he also noted.

"A pothole doesn't have a Republican's or Democrat's name on it. It will bust your tire and tear up your car. We need to fix things," Manchin commented on potential partisan issues during the legislative procedure.
