Softbank's net sales up 16% to $13B in Q1

SoftBank Group Corp. said on Tuesday that its net sales in the first quarter of its fiscal year 2021 amounted to ¥1.48 trillion ($13 billion), rising 15.6% compared to the same period a year earlier and beating estimates.

Income before tax surged 55% year on year to ¥1.3 trillion, while net income fell 29.2% to ¥932.5 billion. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) stood at ¥368.10, dropping 38% compared to the first quarter of fiscal 2020.

Softbank added it made investments in the amount of $2.1 billion in the three-month period and held 82 investments, including 15 listed portfolio companies, at the end of the quarter.
