Yemeni southern forces spokesperson Mohamed al-Naqeeb said on Sunday that up to 40 soldiers were killed and more than 60 wounded in an attack conducted by the Houthis on a military base led by the Saudi coalition.

The Houthis used armed drones and ballistic missiles to carry out the attack, the spokesman added, while it is still not confirmed whether civilians were also among the casualties.

The blasts occurred in the al-Anad area, located around 70 kilometers north of Yemen's port city of Aden.
