European stocks end higher after data

Major stock markets finished the first trading session of the week slightly higher with today's economic data in focus. Destatis reported that annual inflation in Germany grew 3.9% in August. Meanwhile, the Eurozone consumer confidence decreased in July.

In Frankfurt, the DAX was up 0.22% at the closing bell. Covestro AG was the best performer, growing 2.13% The French CAC 40 rose 0.08% at the same time as Vivendi SA climbed 1.69%.. The FTSE 100 was closed due to a public holiday.

The euro and the pound were flat against the greenback at 5:29 pm CET, changing hands for 1.17983 and 1.37562 dollars respectively.
