United Kingdom ministers are close to reaching a deal that could result in removing China from participating in a project to build a £20 billion nuclear power station in Suffolk, the Guardian reported on Saturday.

According to the report, the government may take a stake in the Sizewell C nuclear power station. France's EDF is set to remain on the project, while China's China General Nuclear (CGN), which currently holds a 20% in Sizewell, would likely be excluded if the plan is approved.

The deal could be announced as early as October.
