Wall Street kicks off lower despite positive jobs data

Major stock markets in the United States opened Thursday's session in the negative territory following the release of better-than-expected jobless claims data for last week. The previous day was also marked by the news that the Food and Drugs Administration authorized the use of COVID-19 booster shots developed by Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

The Dow Jones slipped 0.27% at the opening bell, with IBM Corp. plunging 6.24% on underperforming third-quarter earnings results. The Nasdaq 100 fell 0.15% only to go flat shortly after. The S&P 500 lost 0.14%, as Equifax Inc. sank 7.49%. The euro declined by 0.07% against the dollar to sell for 1.16436 at 9:23 am ET.
