US markets extend gains as Nasdaq hits record high

Major stock markets on Wall Streets extended gains during the trading session on Thursday as investors were feeling optimistic amid earnings season with Amazon and Apple being Big Tech representatives and scheduled to reveal their quarterly results after market close. The Nasdaq 100 index hit a record high after jumping nearly 160 points.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden announced a $1.75 trillion framework for his Build Back Better Act, saying he is "confident" the legislation can pass both chambers of Congress soon.

The Dow traded 0.56% higher with Merck growing 4.56% following its earnings report, while the Nasdaq 100 added 0.85% led by KLA Corporation advancing by 3.86% at 11:05 am ET. At the same time, the S&P 500 gained 0.81% as Teradyne soared by 10.23%.
