Societe Generale said on Thursday its revenue in the third quarter of 2021 amounted to €6.7 billion, rising 15% year on year and beating estimates.

The French lender's reported net income soared 80% to €1.6 billion. Operating income jumped from €1.5 billion in the third quarter last year to €2.3 billion this year.

"The Societe Generale group enjoyed an excellent quarter, with strong commercial and financial performances in all the businesses and improvement of the cost-income ratio," CEO Frederic Oudea stated.
