Europe closes higher following data

Major European stock indexes closed higher to finish the week despite the economic data released throughout the day. Germany reported its industrial production to have decreased by 1.1% on a monthly basis in September, as the number of daily confirmed coronavirus infections in the country reached a record high for the second day in a row. Meanwhile, house prices in the United Kingdom increased 8.1% year-on-year in October and retail sales in the Eurozone dropped 0.3% in September.

The DAX closed 0.06% in the green, as MTU Aero Engines gained 6.52%. The FTSE 100 rose by 0.33%, as Rolls-Royce lead the gains with a 5.84%% increase. Meanwhile, the CAC 40 increased by 0.63% at the closing bell, as Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield traded 4.87% higher.

The euro and the British pound both remained flat against the dollar at 5:33 pm CET, to sell for $1.15579 and $1.34948 respectively.
