The Volvo Group's Volvo Car Corporation announced on Wednesday that its sales of electric vehicles (EV) grew by 63.9% in 2021 in comparison to the year before, which highlighted "the continued popularity" of the company's "Recharge line-up of cars with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain."

The carmaker also celebrated its results in overall sales, as the annual growth of 5.6% in those represents a new record for the firm. Volvo sold a total of 698,693 cars in 2021.

Back in July, the company reported record-breaking sales in the first half of 2021, with an increase of 41% in comparison to the same period in 2020.
