European stocks close with losses

Major European markets closed in the red on Monday as investors focused on the security talks between Russia and the United States and awaited US inflation data due for release later in the week.

The FTSE 100 decreased 0.53% as Spirax-Sarco Engineering plummeted 6.54%.

The DAX dropped 1.13%. The worst performer was Sartorius, whose shares tumbled 7.48%.

The CAC 40 slid 1.44%. Worldline and Schneider Electric led the losses, plunging 5.49% and 5.14%, respectively.

The euro declined 0.31% against the dollar to sell for 1.13260 at 5:31 pm CET and the pound lost 0.22% compared to the greenback to go for 1.35652 at the same time.
