US opens higher amid geopolitical worries

The United States stock indexes started Friday's session with gains as the Ukraine crisis continues to increase market volatility. The US urged its citizens to leave Ukraine as Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned the Russian invasion of Ukraine might come at "any time." The Michigan consumer sentiment update is coming up, as well as the Fed report on monetary policy as the bank prepares to raise interest rates.

The Dow Jones opened adding 0.11%, as the Walt Disney Co. grew by 0.65%. The Nasdaq 100 increased by 0.34% at 9:31 am ET with VeriSign jumping 5.9%. The S&P 500 gained 0.25%, led by Monolithic Power Systems, which soared 11.48%.

The euro traded 0.37% lower against the dollar and went for 1.13891 at 9:33 am ET.
