FFI, Airbus to develop green hydrogen for aviation industry

Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) and Airbus announced on Tuesday that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to allow the two companies to collaborate in implementing green hydrogen as a fuel for the aviation industry.

According to the press release, FFI and Airbus will study challenges around green hydrogen regulations, infrastructure, and global supply chains. In addition, FFI will provide insights on cost and technology drivers, while Airbus will provide features on fleet energy usage, aviation hydrogen demand scenarios, refueling specifications, and aviation regulatory framework.

"Airbus has identified green hydrogen as the most promising option for decarbonization to meet our environmental challenges. You heard it here first: We are starting the green aviation revolution," said Airbus Vice President of Zero Emissions Aircraft Glenn Llewellyn.
