Societe Generale said on Thursday its revenues in the first quarter of 2022 amounted to €7.28 billion, rising 16.6% year-on-year and beating analyst estimates.

The French banking group's reported net income climbed 9.8% annually to €1.04 billion, as operating income jumped from €1.2 billion in the first three months of 2021 to €1.4 billion this year.

"This first quarter confirms the robustness and resilience of our business model, with a strong performance by all our businesses in a more uncertain environment, improved operating leverage and a contained cost of risk," the company's CEO Frederic Oudea commented on the report.
