Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Monday, during a joint news conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Montreal, that the country is considering the direct transport of liquified natural gas (LNG) to Europe.

"From the government standpoint, easing the processes... is something we are willing to do. We will explore ways to see if it makes sense to export LNG and if there's a business case for it to export LNG directly to Europe," stated Trudeau adding that Canada will "do everything possible to contribute to the world energy supply."

Trudeau also underscored that the country is "examining all other possibilities to help the Germans and Europeans in the short term, as they face a real challenge next winter."
