French businessman Frederic Oudea is set to be confirmed as Sanofi's non-executive chairman at the upcoming shareholders meeting, the company said on Monday, noting it has already appointed Societe Generale's chief executive as a non-voting member. Oudea is expected to replace Serge Weinberg whose term is set to expire, while also stepping down from his post at Societe Generale in May next year.

"I am extremely motivated by the prospect of contributing to the strategy and sustainable development of Sanofi in the coming years, a leader in a strategic, high-impact healthcare sector undergoing a major transformation, and of being the guarantor of the quality of the company's governance," Sanofi cited Oudea as saying.

Oudea has also served as the president of the European Banking Federation since 2015, participating in all regulatory debates at European and global levels in the banking industry.
