Uniper announced on Monday it has reached a deal with Woodside Energy Trading Singapore Pte Ltd (Woodside), according to which Singapore's company is to supply the German energy firm with liquefied natural gas (LNG) from January 2023 until 2039.

Yearly supplies will amount to ''more than 0.8 million tonnes per annum or one billion cubic meters of natural gas,'' the press release read. The agreement is to serve as a solution for Berlin and Europe as they face an energy crisis due to issues related to Russian gas flow, Woodside Energy Group CEO Meg O’Neill said.

Previously, Uniper said it works on securing additional LNG supplies from Canada after Berlin stated it acquired a 30% stake in the company to prevent it from failing.

Uniper shares fell by 9.93% at 2:47 pm CET following the publication of the latest information.
