Europe closes higher in anticipation of ECB's accounts

Major stock market indexes in Europe closed higher on Tuesday as investors began gearing up for the accounts from the European Central Bank's (ECB) latest monetary policy meeting, set for release on Thursday. Earlier, member of the bank's Governing Council Francois Villeroy de Galhau stated that that institution "will do whatever it takes" to reduce inflation to its target of 2%.

The DAX closed 3.75% or 457 points higher as Zalando SE jumped by 8.28%. The FTSE 100 rose by 2.58%, with Flutter Entertainment PLC surging by 9.24%. The CAC 40 increased by 4.12% as EssilorLuxottica SA soared by 7.03%.

The euro advanced by 1.53% against the dollar to sell for $0.99756 at 5:28 pm CET. At the same time, the pound sterling grew by 1.08% against the greenback to change hands for $1.14459.
