Europe opens lower as US midterms remain in focus | ![]() |

Major European indexes opened lower on Thursday as investors continued to wait for the final results of the midterm elections in the United States and digested earnings reports from companies including AstraZeneca, ArcelorMittal and Deutsche Telekom. The FTSE 100 declined 0.32% at 9:00 am CET. The worst performer was Shell, whose shares dropped 2.63%. The DAX decreased 0.42% at 9:03 am CET with Vonovia, down 3.13%, leading the losses. The CAC 40 fell 0.53% at 9:03 am CET as Credit Agricole slid 4,33% after reporting a drop in net income. The euro lost 0.13% against the dollar to sell for 0.99983 at 8:59 am CET, while the pound added 0.32% compared to the US currency to go for 1.13796 at 9:00 am CET. |
