United States Federal Trade Commission is getting ready to take legal action against Amazon.com Inc. over potential antitrust violations, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

Anonymous sources with knowledge of the issue told the newspaper that the FTC is looking at several of Amazon's business practices that could be seen as anti-competitive, including the treatment of competitors and their products on its platform and the ways in which the company presents and implements its Prime service.

While the lawsuit could be filed in the coming months, the FTC could ultimately decide to not move forward with legal action, according to the report.
