Europe opens higher with economy in focus

Major stock markets in Europe opened higher on Thursday as the European Central Bank's (ECB) latest calls regarding interest rates and monetary policy take center stage in today's trading session. SAP SE unveiled its earnings per share (EPS) in the first trimester of 2021 rose by 29% in comparison to the same period last year. Meanwhile, Nestle SA revealed its revenue grew by 1.3% over the same period of time, while Groupe Renault saw an increase in global sales of vehicles.

The DAX opened 0.37% higher as Infineon Technologies AG improved by 1.17%. The FTSE 100 went up by 0.15%, with Entain PLC growing by 1.71%. The CAC 40 gained 0.30% as Alstom SA expanded by 1.98%.

The euro advanced by 0.06% against the dollar to change hands for $1.20424 at 8:57 am CET. At the same time, the pound sterling rose by 0.09% against the greenback to sell for $1.39387.
