Villeroy: ECB has ample of room for maneuver

Bank of France Governor François Villeroy de Galhau stated on Friday that the Eurozone's inflation isn't yet at the level that the European Central Bank wants it to be.

Villeroy asserted the ECB still has plenty of room for maneuvering, adding that "there's no doubt" about the determination of the central bank to act as much as it is needed, as well as about its capacity to act.

However, the governor claimed the ECB wouldn't "simply follow" the strategy used by United States Federal Reserve. The bank's inflation goal is flexible and symmetric in the medium-term, he explained.
