Electric utility company E.ON SE announced on Tuesday its first quarter adjusted earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) jumped 14% on the year to €1.7 billion, demonstrating a successful quarter despite the impact from the coronavirus pandemic on its business.

Meanwhile, the Essen-based company posted an adjusted net income of €809 million for the quarter, up by 19% compared to the same period a year earlier, while confirming its 2021 outlook given its strong performance.

"All our businesses delivered a strong operational performance in the first quarter. This gives us a lot of confidence for the remainder of the year. I can therefore fully affirm our forecast for 2021, our medium-term financial and earnings plan, and our dividend promise," the company's Chief Financial Officer Marc Spieker said in a press release.
