UNICEF unable to enter Gaza with humanitarian aid

United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) spokesperson Juliette Touma told Al-Arabiya on Tuesday that the organization was unable to enter the Gaza strip through the Karem Abu Salem border crossing to deliver important aid as Israel closed the passage.

She described the situation in Gaza as "catastrophic" and underscored the necessity of a long-term ceasefire and a sustainable solution. In a different conversation, an official from the "Save the Children" organization noted that the humanitarian conditions in Gaza are currently "worst than ever" before.

Earlier, the Karem Abu Salem passage was temporarily opened for nearly 40 trucks filled with humanitarian aid to go in, but Israeli authorities shut it down again citing a mortar attack on a soldier.
