Wall Street slightly higher in premarket

United States stock markets traded with modest gains in the premarket on Wednesday as the NATO summit continues. Sweden and Finland cleared a major hurdle after Turkey dropped its opposition to the two countries' accession bid, likely meaning that they will soon join the military bloc. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will speak at the European Central Bank Forum on Central Banking later in the day, while the Cleveland Fed president said she would support a 0.75 percentage point interest rate hike if the current economic situation remains the same.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index moved up 0.09%, the Nasdaq 100 climbed 0.08% and the S&P 500 increased by 0.08% at 4:22 am ET.

The euro was flat compared to the US dollar, changing hands for 1.05173 at the same time.
