US down in premarket ahead of jobless claims report

Equities in the United States traded lower in the premarket on Thursday ahead of the release of the latest report on the country's initial jobless claims and personal spending. The traders will also focus on the final day of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) ongoing summit in Madrid, with British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss previously commenting the alliance should increase spending on defense to meet its goal of 2% of gross domestic product (GDP).

The Dow Jones Industrial Average went down by 0.88% or 274 points at 4:10 am ET. At the same time, the Nasdaq 100 decreased by 1.22% or 143 points. The S&P 500 fell by 1.11%.

The euro stood flat against the dollar at 4:10 am ET to sell for $1.04471.
