Asian markets mixed as RBA decides to hold rates

Major stock markets in Asia traded mixed on Tuesday after a Wall Street selloff that saw the Dow Jones close over 600 points lower. The Reserve Bank of Australia predicted at its latest meeting it will not raise interest rates until 2024.

The Nikkei 225 dropped 1.98% at 4:52 am CET, as the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.08% and Hang Seng traded flat at the same time. The markets in mainland China and South Korea are closed for a holiday.

The dollar increased by 0.14% compared to the yen at 4:54 am CET and sold for 109.5855.
