Europe opens in green with focus on coronavirus

Equities on major European stock markets opened in the green on Tuesday as the latest coronavirus developments grabbed the investors' attention. The death toll surpassed 1,000 in China, while more than 43,000 people around the world have been infected by the virus.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom is scheduled to release GDP, trade balance, industrial and manufacturing data early in the trading session. In Germany, Daimler reported a 3% increase in yearly revenue.

The DAX added 0.83% at 9:03 am CET as Deutsche Telekom AG led the gains, rising by 3.89% at 9:05 CET.

London's FTSE 100 was 0.28% up at 9:00 am CET as United Utilities Group jumped 2.71% at 9:03 CET.

The CAC 40 was 0.52% higher at 9:00 am CET. Peugeot was the best performer, advancing 2.08% at 9:02 CET.

Both the euro and the pound traded flat against the dollar to sell for 1.09112 and 1.29069, respectively, at 9:06 am CET.
