European stocks finish higher despite virus

Equities on major European stock markets closed higher on Wednesday, shrugging off coronavirus outbreak concerns. Jaguar Land Rover Automotive plc announced it will permanently shut down its factories in the United Kingdom.

On data, Eurostat reported the construction output in the eurozone fell by 3.1% in December, while the UK's Office for National Statistics said the PPI and CPI rose 0.3% and 1.8% respectively in January.

The FTSE 100 jumped 1.02% at the end of the trading session. Flutter Entertainment plc was the best performer, gaining 4.13%. The DAX climbed 0.79%, with Deutsche Telekom AG advancing 4.15%. The CAC 40 grew 0.90% as STMicroelectronics increased 4.42%.

The euro was unchanged against the dollar to change hands for 1.07966 at 5:29 pm CET. The pound lost 0.42% concurrently, selling for 1.29459 dollars.
