Europe closes mostly higher on UK recovery hopes

European markets ended mixed on Friday after there was some encouraging news from the United Kingdom. Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey said that he recognizes some signs of the UK's economic recovery. Also, the country decided earlier to abandon plans to introduce border checks with the European Union on January 1.

The DAX decreased by 0.29% with Adidas AG falling by 1.79%. The FTSE grew by 0.23% with Pearson PLC rising by 11.77%. The CAC went up by 0.26%. Peugeot was the best performer growing by 4.45%.

The euro went lower compared to the dollar by 0.52%, with the exchange rate of 1.2407 at 5:31 pm CET.
