DAX jumps over 200 pts after strong retail data

The DAX soared over 200 points on Wednesday after Germany's statistical office Destatis reported that the retail sales in the country rose by higher-than-expected 4.2% on a yearly basis in July. The DAX increased by 1.78%, or 231 points, at 10:16 am CET, pulled up by Adidas AG's 4.2% jump.

Meanwhile, the FTSE 100 gained 1.4% at 10:17 am CET after it was reported that the average house prices in the United Kingdom hit an all-time high of £224,123 in August.

The CAC 40 in Paris rose by 1.8% at 10:23 am CET.
