Nokia Corp. announced on Thursday it partnered with Google LLC's Cloud unit to jointly develop and sell cloud-native 5G core infrastructure and network functions to communications service providers (CSP).

Under the terms of the agreement, the Finnish telecommunications company will supply its core network products, while Google will provide its artificial intelligence, machine learning, and analytics tech, with the aim of combining them into a more comprehensive and integrated offering, all running on Google's Anthos platform.

"Nokia is excited to work with Google Cloud in service of our customers, both CSPs and enterprise, to provide choice and freedom to run workloads on premise and in the public cloud. Cloud-native network functions and automation will enable new agility and use-cases in the 5G era," Nokia's CTO Ron Haberman said in the press release.
