US opens lower with infrastructure, data in focus

Major stock indexes in the United States started the first trading session of the week lower as investors focused on the upcoming meeting on President Joe Biden's infrastructure plan. Additionally, the country's monthly budget statement was set to be released later during the day. In business news, Microsoft Corp. confirmed that it will acquire Nuance Communications for $19.7 billion.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.08%. Salesforce.com Inc. dropped 0.70%. The Nasdaq 100 decreased 0.38%, as JD.com Inc. lost 2.75%. The S&P 500 slipped 0.19%, with American Airlines Group surrendering 2.00%.

The euro rose 0.09% against the greenback at 9:29 am ET, selling for $1.19108.
