Facebook defends its two-year Trump ban

Sonntag, 06. Juni 2021 23:29

Facebook Inc. executive and former United Kingdom Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, (pictured) in a statement, defended the company's two-year suspension of former President Donald Trump.

"Our job is not to take the decisions with an eye to, you know, which side of the political aisle is going to agree or disagree more with us, but just to do so in a way that is fair, transparent and proportionate," said Clegg.

The comments come after the social media giant announced that the ban, imposed in January year, will last until 2023. Trump's accounts on several platforms have been restricted after he was accused of inciting his supporters to enter the Capitol building while Congress was in session, with Google-owned Youtube indefinitely extending its suspension, while Twitter banned the former head of state altogether.
