Bitcoin soared over 5% on Sunday as entrepreneur Elon Musk made comments about the cryptocurrency. In a tweet, Musk said his automaker Tesla Inc. will resume Bitcoin transactions after its mining process converts to around 50% clean energy. Musk previously said Tesla will stop accepting Bitcoin citing the digital currency's considerable carbon footprint.

"When there’s confirmation of reasonable (~50%) clean energy usage by miners with positive future trend, Tesla will resume allowing Bitcoin transactions," Musk said. He also explained Tesla only sold around 10% of its Bitcoin holdings to confirm the currency "could be liquidated easily without moving market."

Bitcoin gained 5.19% at 20:41 pm CET and sold for $37,422, while Ether was up by 2.93% at the same time, going for $2,438.20.
