Toyota Motor Corporation said on Wednesday that its sales revenue for the first quarter of its fiscal 2022 amounted to ¥7.9 trillion ($72.8 billion), soaring 72% year on year.

Earnings per share (EPS) stood at ¥321.13 ($2.91), surging from ¥56.87 ($0.52) reported a year earlier. Net income in the quarter was ¥897.8 billion ($8.2 billion)

"The first-quarter results were the result of our maintaining, together with our suppliers and dealerships, stable sales and supply, despite the semiconductor shortage and spread of COVID-19," the carmaker said.
