Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Saturday that Moscow will "not tolerate" any attempts from the West to discriminate against its Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19.

Speaking at a press conference during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Lavrov acknowledged the Russian jab has not been approved in the United States but noted it should still be recognized as its efficacy has been proven. He also called on other Western countries to follow the steps of Hungary and Slovakia and authorize Sputnik V.

The Russian official also slammed the US for violating UN arrangements by delaying the issuance of visas to Russian delegates at the UNGA and stressed Moscow will continue to demand from the UN Secretariat to address these issues.
